Bridesmaid Dresses

One of the fun (and hopefully easy!) tasks as a bride is choosing who you want to participate in your bridal party. Many brides decide to skip having a full bridal party all together, while others want to have their entire fifteen girl posse included in the wedding. If you are planning on having your best ladies standing up at the altar while you say your I do's, here is a list of our dos and don'ts to consider when helping your girls pick out their bridesmaid dresses.

DO: Mismatched Dresses

No two of your friends are the same, and their body types aren't either! Unless you are part of the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," there is unlikely to be one dress that will fit everyone perfectly. Instead give your girls a color and style you are interested in that they can shop around for a dress matching that aesthetic, or pick out a few different styles that they can choose from. Some dress stores even cut the same material into different dresses to match an individual's style (i.e. Show Me Your Mumu). Mismatched colors are in too, so sky is the limit!

DON'T: Choose a high price point

One of the most stressful things when asked to be in a wedding is the cost associated with it. It is an honor to be asked to be a bridesmaid, but after the gifts, bachelorette party, and dress, costs start to add up. That being said, if you are picking the dress for your girls, choose a price point that you think will fit everyone's budget. Chances are these girls won't ever wear this dress again, so don't make them break the bank.

DO: Rent a Dress

Want your girls in a certain designer gown? Rent it! Not only will this cut the cost significantly, but it will also solve the problem of having a gorgeous dress hanging in the closet making them feel guilty for never wearing it again.

DON'T: Procrastinate on finding dresses

Bridesmaid dresses don't usually take long to purchase and get altered, but don't postpone this until the last few weeks! You never know if a dress is going to be out of stock or backordered, so give your ladies a cut off date to when they have to purchase their gowns.

DO: Have a shopping day with all your girls!

Shopping with your girls for your wedding day is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so make a day out of it - go out to a nice lunch, and of course drink plenty of bubbly!
