Green theme anyone?
I am not a huge fan of full bars at a wedding. I know some of you are yelling at me as I say this (trust me some of my client do!), but let me explain why. I love a good cocktail. But at a hosted, full bar people mix drinks. Its that simple. I don’t care if you can drink me under the table (good luck by the way), but mixing champagne, shots (classy!), red wine, and martinis can lead to very crazy drunk behavior. Lia and I have seen it time and again. Drunk members of the wedding party( long inappropriate toasts anyone?), fights (so lovely on this special day), getting sick in the corner, falling down on the dance floor, it goes on and on. In June I had a groomsmen pick me up and throw me over his shoulder while spinning around. The Groom’s father had to get him to put me down. The photographer took pictures which he is planning to use as blackmail one of these days. Not fun! But I do believe alcohol is an important part of the celebration. I suggest decent wine (not 2 buck chuck people!), free flowing champagne (champagne for just the toast is so 80′s!), beer (yes boys I’ve got you covered) for the entire reception and one or two pre-made signature cocktails offered during the cocktail hour. You can pre-make and display in large glass Jars and pour into pretty glasses. This limits the mass mixing, and no one will complain! If Daddy has to have his Scotch, supply a bottle to the bar and give strict instructions its just for Daddy. And Ladies, please pick one drink and stick with it for the night. Don’t forget to drink lots of water during the day while getting ready, and eat! Nothing is worse than a beautiful but very drunk Bride! Cheers.
